Surgical Vaginal Rejuvenation

Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that reduces the size and shape of the labia, improving comfort and the aesthetic appearance of the labia. Changes due to childbirth or menopause can cause changes to the labia, but some irregularities can be genetic.

Labiaplasty is both an aesthetic and functional surgery to improve the appearance of the labia and reduce irritation or discomfort caused by enlarged labia. This surgery helps relieve and improve the following:

  • Discomfort during sex and vigorous exercise.
  • Discomfort wearing tight-fitting clothing.
  • Damage caused during childbirth.
  • Changes caused by menopause.
  • Appearance of the labia may cause embarrassment.

We also offer nonsurgical diVa and diVaTyte™CO2 Lift V, and EMSELLA procedures as alternatives.  Labiaplasty may also be performed to reduce physical discomfort and self-consciousness from stretched and misshapen labia. Internal vaginal changes after pregnancy can also lead to embarrassing problems, such as stress incontinence. The non-surgical diVa® procedure may help.

About the Vaginoplasty Procedure

Vaginoplasty is usually performed as an outpatient procedure with the patient under twilight or general anesthesia in our AAAASF–approved operating rooms. Using an incision placed in the perineum behind the vagina, the surgeon removes excess stretched inner lining, repairs muscles surrounding the vagina, and tightens the vaginal opening. The procedure takes about 1 to 2 hours to complete, depending on the complexity of the repairs.

What to Expect During Recovery from Vaginoplasty

After vaginal rejuvenation surgery, patients may experience swelling and discomfort that can be controlled with over-the-counter or prescription pain medication. Within a few days, most patients can resume normal daily activities.

Return to Work After Surgical Vaginal Rejuvenation

Patients are usually ready to return to work within 1 to 2 weeks of surgery. The use of tampons and physical activities such as strenuous exercise, sexual intercourse, and heavy lifting will be restricted for 6 to 12 weeks.

Surgical Results

Once completely healed, patients enjoy increased comfort and sensitivity during intercourse and feel more confident about the way they look.

Non-Surgical Vaginal Rejuvenation

The increasing interest in vaginal rejuvenation has led to the introduction of safe and effective non-surgical treatments to tighten both the labia and the vagina.

The Orgasm Shot

This minimally invasive treatment helps to enhance sexual pleasure and improve various aspects of female sexual function. The procedure begins by collecting a blood sample from the patient. This sample is then run through a centrifuge to separate its growth factors.

Your provider will numb the injection sites before administering the growth factors into the clitoris and upper vagina. The treatment increases blood flow, stimulates healthy tissue growth, and aids heightened sensitivity, arousal, and lubrication.

It may take up to 3 months before the results are fully achieved. Many women require more than one treatment to enjoy optimal benefits of the Orgasm Shot. The results last for a year or longer before needing another injection.

EMSELLA®

For women struggling with incontinence, we offer EMSELLA, a non-invasive treatment to strengthen the muscles of the pelvic floor, with 95% of patients reporting an improved quality of life, thanks to EMSELLA treatments. EMSELLA uses electromagnetic energy to cause thousands of pelvic floor muscle contractions in a single 30-minute treatment. By engaging and re-training the muscles, you will gain greater control over your bladder and bowels.

Your provider will create a custom plan for your needs, but most EMSELLA treatments last about 30 minutes. We often recommend 6 sessions, scheduled twice a week, and results will start to improve over the course of the next few weeks. No downtime is required after an EMSELLA treatment. You can immediately return to your daily routine after treatment, but you can expect to start to feel relief from incontinence after your first session.

CO2 Lift V

Women experiencing issues with vaginal lubrication, laxity, pain during intercourse, and other common side effects of aging and childbirth can use CO2 Lift V, an at-home Carboxy vaginal treatment, that delivers CO2 to the vaginal tissues to promote circulation and encourage the creation of new collagen and elastin.

The result of this at-home Carboxy treatment is improved natural lubrication, vaginal tightening, less pain, improved sensation during intercourse, and tighter skin on the outside of the vagina. Designed to be easily applied at home, the CO2 Lift V kit includes three treatments with three applicator sticks. You can expect to see and feel results after just one treatment.

The G-Spot Shot

Our G-Spot Shot uses a hyaluronic acid filler to increase sensitivity and blood flow to the G spot.

Women who receive this treatment often report experiencing greater sexual pleasure and the ability to achieve orgasm through penetration alone. The injection only takes a few minutes to complete, and we recommend at least two treatments for optimal results.

The results typically last 3 to 4 months. As with the Orgasm Shot, the provider numbs the injection site before treatment for a smooth, pain-free experience.

diVa® & diVaTyte™

Childbirth and aging can change both the sensitivity and the appearance of the vagina. But even though women address age-related changes to their faces and other areas of the body, they are less likely to think about reversing aging’s effects on the vagina. That trend is gradually changing as the effectiveness of both surgical and nonsurgical treatments becomes more well-known. At CaloSpa, laser vaginal rejuvenation at our Louisville and Lexington med spas is performed using diVa and diVaTyte. diVa uses a hybrid fractional laser to resurface the deeper layers of the vaginal wall. During a treatment, which lasts about 3 to 5 minutes, the provider inserts the handpiece into the vaginal canal, and the laser energy creates microchannels in the tissue.

This stimulates the body’s healing response, resulting in the growth of healthy, new tissue. Patients can resume their normal daily activities following the treatment, but we recommend avoiding sexual intercourse for 48 hours after the procedure. Women considering labiaplasty may opt instead for diVaTyte, another nonsurgical procedure that uses infrared energy. The treatment is ideal for women who:

  • are self-conscious about the appearance of their labia
  • want to reduce excess skin that causes irritation, rubbing, or chafing during exercise, such as running or cycling
  • experience painful intercourse because of labial friction or movement

The in-office procedure can be completed in about 10 minutes. Patients don’t experience any discomfort and they can resume their normal activities immediately following the treatment.
