Dr. M. Bradley Calobrace and Dr. Juan Quintero perform ear pinning (otoplasty) in Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky, for people from Floyds Knobs and surrounding areas with ears that protrude too far from the head.

Ear Pinning

Restore Confidence With Cosmetic Ear Surgery
The procedure is also used to improve the appearance of misshapen ears. Cosmetic ear surgery may be performed as early as 5 years of age, but often is performed in adults as well. Request a consultation at CaloAesthetics® Plastic Surgery Center in Kentucky or call us to schedule your visit and learn more about cosmetic ear surgery and other facial procedures.

About Cosmetic Ear Surgery
Otoplasty is usually performed as an outpatient procedure in our AAAASF-approved surgical facility. Dr. Calobrace and Dr. Quintero typically use a general anesthetic for children and a local anesthetic for adults. They make incisions on the back of the ear, and small portions of fat and tissue are removed.
Cartilage is reshaped and repositioned and held into place with sutures. Adult patients can combine their ear surgery with rhinoplasty or chin augmentation for even more impressive results.

What to Expect During Recovery
Patients can expect temporary pain and swelling. A headband may be required during recovery. It will take a few weeks for the swelling to decrease and the ears to appear normal. Contact sports should be avoided for 1 to 3 months.

Risks of Ear Pinning
What Are the Risks?
Otoplasty is considered a safe and effective procedure, and most patients enjoy a smooth recovery. As with any surgery, however, some risks are possible. These may include temporary swelling, bruising, mild discomfort, or changes in sensation around the ears. In rare cases, patients may experience infection, visible scarring, or slight asymmetry as the tissues heal. During your consultation, Dr. Calobrace, Dr. Quintero, or Dr. Pong will walk you through each step of the process so you feel informed, confident, and fully supported.
