About Auto-Augmentation

A traditional breast lift is the most common procedure used by plastic surgeons to restore youthful perkiness to sagging breasts.

The surgery is effective for women who not only want to address sagging but also want to reduce the size of their breasts by removing excess skin and tissue.

An auto-augmentation breast lift uses the patient’s own breast tissue to create a lifted appearance that maintains the breasts’ volume.

It’s similar to a breast lift because the surgeon makes incisions around the nipple and then vertically to the base of the breast (called a “keyhole” or “lollipop” incision) and removes the skin’s outer layer to expose the tissue. Instead of discarding the tissue and excess skin, the tissue is adjusted to provide more volume to the upper portion of the breast, and the skin is carefully tucked back into the breast. Auto-augmentation breast lift surgery is typically performed as an outpatient procedure using either a general anesthetic or a local anesthetic with sedation. It takes approximately 1.5 to 3 hours to complete.

What to Expect During Recovery

During the first 2 days following surgery, you will need someone to stay with you. We advise patients to sleep in a recliner or propped up with pillows to help limit swelling. It’s important to walk, even on the day of surgery, to improve circulation and minimize the risk of clotting. Although gravity and aging will eventually cause breasts to sag, you can expect to enjoy the results of the surgery for several years.
