Breast Implant Options For a Breast Augmentation Surgery

Breast ImplantAt Calobrace and Mizuguchi Plastic Surgery Center, we offer a variety of breast implant sizes and shapes to meet your desired goals for breast enhancement. Breast implants have different outer shells, filled with different materials, and come in different shapes. Choosing the right breast implant is an important part of having the best possible result for your breast augmentation surgery.

Breast ImplantBreast implants for breast augmentation are either filled with saline or silicone. Saline breast implants are filled at the time of surgery and small amounts of asymmetry can be adjusted at the time of surgery. They are also placed through a smaller incision. Saline breast implants are best used for patients who have adequate existing breast tissue to cover the implants to decrease the likelihood of seeing or feeling the breast implants.

Silicone gel breast implants come prefilled but have a more natural feel and look. Silicone gel filled implants are safe and effective and have been approved by the FDA since 2006. Silicone breast implants will decrease the likelihood of seeing or feeling the breast implants and offer more fullness at the upper part of your breasts. Patients needing breast lift surgery will also benefit from using silicone gel filled implants.

Silicone breast implants are also available in a shaped form. Shaped gel breast implants offer more stable upper poll (the upper top portion of your breast) fullness but are slighter firmer than the traditional round silicone gel breast implants.

There are now three breast implant manufactures (Allergan Natrelle, Mentor, and Sientra), offering you the widest range of selections for your needs for breast augmentation surgery. Drs. Calobrace and Mizuguchi will help you select the best breast implant for your needs.
