On Sept. 5, I had the privilege of participating in the Sientra® Breast Implant Preceptorship. Sientra, one of the leading breast implant manufacturers in the country, pioneered the development of high-strength cohesive silicone gel implants, which have seen a massive rise in popularity for breast augmentation surgeries at my Louisville practice and around the nation.
The implants feature a technology called TRUE Texture®, which is a shell texturing method that supports tissue in-growth to help keep implants in place and prevent complications such as capsular contracture.
The preceptorship, which allowed me to perform live surgeries for 11 other plastic surgeons from across the nation, was a huge honor. Although I’m always committed to creating the best outcomes for my patients, having 11 sets of critical eyes on me certainly increased the pressure!
The preceptorship was a great experience, and I was honored to be a part of it. Not only was I able to demonstrate my technique to my peers, I was also able to gain valuable insights from them. This collaborative approach not only benefitted the patients who underwent the surgery, but it will also benefit the future patients of each doctor in attendance — myself included.
